Winter Update
Dear Readers,
The holiday season is officially upon us (if the traffic at our bookshop is any indication), and Erzebet is preparing for a week away in the high mountains of Cuenca, Spain, where she will be recording a special episode of the Hadean Podcast with José Leitão on history, magic, and what it's like to spend years on the quest for Iberian magic books. From 7 December through 13 December, Lucy will be at the helm of our good ship Hadean. You can find her email address on our Contact page, so please direct all queries to her throughout that week. Additionally, Hadean Press will be closed from Wednesday 25 December through Sunday 5 January.
We mentioned this in our last newsletter, but will repeat it here. We have taken delivery of both Fairy Women from the Portuguese Book of Lineages of Count Dom Pedro: Politics, Mysticism and Magic and Claves Intelligentiarum: A Complete Practical Manual of Conjuration of the Planetary Intelligences. Pre-orders for Fairy Women have shipped, unless the order contained a book not yet in stock. Pre-orders for Claves Intelligentiarum are shipping now. I’ll send out updates on our other titles as we have them – please sign up to our mailing list as we do send updates to our subscribers which you might otherwise miss. Scroll to the bottom of any page on hadean.press to find the sign-up form.
Please also note that the paperback editions of Claves Intelligentiarum and Liber Umbrarum: Book of Shadows, are available to purchase.
Speaking of Claves, we have opened the next run of the Conjuring the Intelligences online course to our waiting list. The next course will run from 27 April through 1 June 2025. If any spaces become available on this run of the course, we will let our subscribers know.
Finally, the hardcover edition of Jim Baker’s An Inquiry into Necromancy is available to pre-order. Many of you will recognise Jim’s name from his previous work, The Cunning Man's Handbook: The Practice of English Folk Magic 1550-1900 (Avalonia, 2014). His latest book from Hadean Press can not only be seen as a historical exploration of the practice of necromancy in the West, but also as a guide to create or enhance one’s own necromantic practice as Jim clarifies the many interpretations and uses of spirit communication spanning a period of roughly fifteen hundred years. This is our last publication of 2024 and one you won’t want to miss.
Thanks again to everyone who has supported us, who has emailed us with good cheer, and who has waited patiently for our latest books to ship. We are deeply appreciative of every one of you.
